Channeling anger

I have a lot of suppressed anger. Gigantic explosions compressed and locked away in the bottom of my mind. Lately I noticed that this anger has started to escape in the form of rare, mild eruptions. Sadly, it is the people who I genuinely care about who have to deal with these eruptions of mine. So I decided to channel all this excess anger into a more productive routine. In other words, I decided to let it flow! Boxing of course did the trick. Kick-boxing to be precise. And boy does it feel good!

I know this is only a temporary fix or maybe not even a fix at all but it sure feels damn good! According to my trainer, I am good at it too! Here are a few things that I found useful for training:

This is going to get a little dark so this is probably where you should stop reading and head on over to the other “travel” blogs(I will do the same right after I finish writing this crap).

a) Don’t stop training

b) This one’s typical. Imagine that your punching bag is the person you hate the most. It helps if you have a list of people at hand because the same person everyday gets boring real fast! PS: Keep a check on the amount of hate. Too much will lead to bleeding knuckles, broken nails, a lot of bad stuff.

c) See to it that your trainer is always with you to keep you motivated. (I got a crazy ex-army maniac).

d) Do not fear people. You are the king….okay now its going off topic.

Having said all of this, I would like to reassure the reader that everything is okay with me and everything is gonna be okay with you. Trust me. Here’s a song as proof:

A little science wont hurt:

Rewiring the brain

Brain rewiring = Unearthing new worlds

As you may already know, like all the other parts of the body, the brain needs exercise too. We have to challenge our brains once in a while. Learning something new or solving a puzzle is one way to go about it. However, I would like to recommend something different. How about you try to do something that you do everyday, differently? Or better yet, more efficiently? I recently had this thought about rewiring the brain. Its not that complicated. It can be incorporated into anything that you do on a daily basis like brushing your teeth with the other hand or compose a new tune by yourself.

I am right handed. So I’ve learnt drums in such a way that the right hand is always treated as the dominant one. Now I have a bizarre drum teacher who recommends trying every thing with both hands. Learning to do this has changed me. I never thought it would be so useful. Now I can play drums with my hands switched. It also feels easier now to play different things simultaneously on different hands. I could feel it happen in my head as I was learning to do it. It felt good. You feel a kind of opposing force as you try to do it. Once you start to get the hang of it you feel like a whole new world has opened up. It feels like a dormant part of your brain has all of a sudden started to function. It is an unbelievable experience and I think everyone should try it.

I watched The Arrival last weekend. It might have inspired me to make this post! It explains how learning something new can completely change the way we think.

Movies

I have always loved going to the movies. I’m one of those movie goers that get super excited just by seeing the Universal Studios Logo appear on screen. In fact, I watch it from time to time on my computer! I know that’s a little extreme but It just pumps me up. So does many other movie studio logos. Then there are the audio demos. I cannot stop watching those. They showcase the cinema’s sound reproduction capabilities. I live to watch those!(I work in this industry). I like going to the movies because:
1. It is completely different from watching a movie at home. The whole ‘experience’ is different. I like the excitement in going to watch a movie!
1. It helps me relax and clears my mind
I don’t like to go to the movies alone because I like to know someone else’s take on the movie. Have you been in situation where you absolutely loved a movie while your friend hated it? Im sure you have! Have you also been in a situation where your friend could not give a proper explanation why they hated the movie? The problem with that scenario is that it ruins the experience for both of you. I don’t have a whole lot of friends so I usually end up dragging someone along. Yes, I like movies that people usually dont like. However, I don’t like to watch more than two movies a month because I do not want it to lose its exclusivity. Plus a whole lot of 3D and earpiercing sound can damage you PERMANENTLY! I haven’t watched a movie in a long time though.
I have a weird obsession with imdb ratings. If they say it’s good, its good! Yes, I look at the ratings before I go watch the movie but it doesn’t stop me from watching it unless the rating is below 6. They have pretty good movie suggestions on their website. I just wish they suggested more number of movies.
Cinemas have been changing over the years. I think audio and video technologies have been improving steadily( several audio companies claim that the audio was shit before they brought out their ‘new’ system!). The sad part is that I miss the old cinema. The ones where the projector sometimes messed up the playback, dots appeared on the screen now and then!, the sound echoed!. It just isn’t the same with 4K, Laser projection, HFR3D, ATMOS, AURO, etc. However, I 100% appreciate the new technologies. Immersive sound is to die for! I kinda feel weird though when the audio surrounds you while the video does not!
One of my dreams is to compose background scores for movies.
